A wedding in Amsterdam, a cruise for two mums, a family of nine in the Cotswolds — the shape of the trip changes, the approach doesn't: choose carefully, book properly, and check the details that matter.
The right seat, the right route, the right airline for you — not just the cheapest.

A 20-minute call, no obligation. Who's travelling, what you're dreaming of, and what would make it feel like yours.

Flights, hotels, parking, theatre — booked and coordinated together. If it changes, I change it.

Guides for thoughtful travellers.
Honest, detailed guides to the places I'm asked about most — what to book, what to skip, and when to go. No fluff, just what matters for a private, well-planned trip.

Mykonos beyond the scene
North-shore houses, fishermen's taverna, and October light no one talks about.

Kyoto in early spring, privately
Ryokans where you're not an exception. Tea houses and private gardens.

Amalfi Coast, but quietly
Private boat access, 1960s villas, and the quiet end of a famous coast.

Where you never have to second-guess.
I started The Latitude Compass because I was tired of seeing ‘LGBTQ+ friendly’ as a filter rather than a philosophy. Friendliness isn’t a badge. It’s in the details.
- Privacy as standard — nothing shared beyond what it takes to book
- Booked as you actually live — never as a special request
- Stays chosen for how they treat guests, not for a badge on the door
- One inbox — everything in one thread, nothing lost
Independent by conviction.
I'm small on purpose. No sales targets, and no queue between you and an answer. I'm paid by supplier commission or by a transparent planning fee, always agreed upfront — so you'll never find a hidden charge on your invoice. Just honest recommendations and a genuine love of places that get the details right. UK-based, fully independent, and entirely on your side. I'm an LGBTQ+ travel agent, and I'd rather be judged on whether the trip was right.
Questions I’m often asked
Honest answers about how I work, privacy, and what's included. If your question isn't here, ask me directly — the answer won't be a script.
Do you specialise in LGBTQ+ travel?
I build trips for any couple who wants them done properly — and I'm direct about which places actually welcome you rather than simply tolerate you. That's a real specialism, not a label added to a brochure. As an LGBTQ+ travel agent, that's the standard every booking gets — not an upgrade you have to ask for.
What do you actually book?
Flights, hotels, self-catering villas, cruises, car hire, airport parking and theatre tickets — booked together so the pieces actually fit, on a single invoice, with me answerable for the lot.
How does ABTA membership and financial protection work?
Darren Bennett trading as The Latitude Compass is an Independent Travel Advisor affiliated with InteleTravel ABTA P7384. Package holidays are covered by a scheme protecting your money if the supplier fails, and flight-inclusive holidays are covered by the ATOL scheme — you will be supplied with an ATOL Certificate where this applies. Other services, such as a hotel or a flight on its own, may not be protected, so please ask me what protection applies to your booking.
How do you charge?
I'm remunerated by supplier commission, or by a transparent planning fee for more complex trips — always discussed and agreed upfront, before any work begins. You'll never find a hidden charge on your invoice.
Things worth knowing before you book.
What I'm learning as I go — routes, timings and the details that decide whether a trip feels right. No algorithm, no sponsored posts, just honest writing.

How ABTA membership works when you book with me
What it means that I am an Independent Travel Advisor affiliated with InteleTravel ABTA P7384 — and what is and isn't financially protected when you book.

Why I don’t use ‘LGBTQ+ friendly’ as a filter
Why the tick box tells you almost nothing — and what I ask a hotel instead, before I book anything.

Lisbon in October — long weekend, private and quiet
North-facing light, tiled streets, and hotels where you’re not an exception.
Let's design something personal.
Tell me who's coming and what you're dreaming of — I'll build the whole trip around it. I reply within 24 hours.
